A Guide to Selecting the Right Tip

How do you select the right tip size for a texture you are trying to spray?

The charts below can serve as guidelines to follow when choosing a tip size. Also keep in mind that there are other elements that go into getting a particular texture such as the consistency of your texture, the volume of material flow, and the volume of air flow.

Changing Pattern Without Changing Tip Size

What if you have the right tip size per the charts above, but you aren’t getting the pattern you want?

The next thing you can do is manipulate your material flow and air flow settings. Start with your air flow settings at the gun. Open or close the air valve to change how the material is atomized as it is pumped out of the gun.

You can also change your material flow settings to increase or decrease the amount of material being sprayed to see if that helps get the pattern you are wanting. Most contractors set this between 3 and 5 at the material flow divider on the front of the tank.
